A first-of-its-kind FREE virtual event for students and professionals to learn and practice the art of arranging for competitive show choir. The workshop will be divided into three hour-long sessions.**
10:00 AM CST – What Makes Arranging For Show Choir Different?
A presentation by Garrett Breeze on the differences between arranging for “choir” and “show choir,” how to make an arrangement fit into the designated show function, and what arrangers can do in the music to prevent balance issues with the show band.
12:00 PM CST – Open Critique Session
An opportunity for participants to showcase an arrangement (in progress or finished) and get constructive feedback and ideas in a group setting.
2:00 PM CST – Roundtable Discussion
In this discussion format, arrangers will have the chance to ask questions, get to know one another, and share advice on a wide variety of topics including: working with directors and choreographers, managing the business side of arranging, writing for unbalanced ensembles, tips for using technology, creating a compelling show design, and more!
**The 10AM session will be posted to YouTube afterwards. The other two sessions will not be recorded.**
